Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to be her future career. She danced for almost 10 year. When she completed high school, she received a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having spent a year in university, went on to audition in an open audition for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the role. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. The play was deemed the top production by Canadian critics. Contractor accepted the invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men as well as four females get accepted to a course of 20 weeks in the classical theatre.
